2016 Ross/Cromling Scholarship Recipient

Congratulations to the Recipient of the 2016 Ross/Cromling Scholarship:
Nathan Parsons!Nathan Parsons

We are very happy to announce that the recipient of the 2016 Ross/Cromling Scholarship is Nathan Parsons.  Nate is the son of Ross Transportation Services, Inc. driver David Parsons.  A 2014 graduate of the Lorain County Joint Vocational School, Nate is a student at Lorain County Community College where he is majoring in Police Science.  He is currently working to obtain his Associate’s Degree in Police Science and then will attend a Police Academy. In addition to attending LCCC, he works part time in security at the Veterans Administration Hospital.

In his scholarship application, Nate said he has chosen to enter the law enforcement field because he wants to help others and give back to his community. While he is working to put himself through school, Nate has also volunteered at a nursing home and at Special Olympics events.

The Ross/Cromling Scholarship Fund was established by the associates of the Ross companies in 1991 to honor the owners of the companies and is administered by the Ross Foundation, Inc. A committee of associates developed the scholarship program and all of the money is raised through fundraisers and donations.

The children, step-children and grandchildren of associates of the Ross group of companies (Ross Environmental Services, Inc., Ross Incineration Services, Inc. and Ross Transportation Services, Inc.) are eligible to receive a scholarship. (Associates must have been employed with one of the companies full-time for at least one year.) A committee of five community representatives selects the scholarship winners. None of the committee members are directly affiliated with the companies.  The selection is based on financial need, scholarship, recommendations, test scores, community involvement, class ranking and extra-curricular activities.

Congratulations Nate and best wishes as you continue your education!
