Neil Gorman Named Recipient
Of the Phillip T. Schaefer Vision Award

Neil Gorman, of Ross Incineration Services, Inc. (RIS), was recently named the sixth recipient of the Phillip T. Schaefer Vision Award by the Ross Group of companies. The Ross Group includes Ross Environmental Services, Inc., Ross Incineration Services, Inc. and Ross Transportation Services, Inc.

Gorman was presented the award at the Ross companies’ Annual Service Awards event held on Saturday March 4, 2017. He is the General Manager of Ross Incineration and has been with the company for almost 19 years. Gorman joined the company in the Operations Support Department and later served as Incineration Manager, before being named General Manager.

“Neil is a loyal, steadfast and reassuring force with associates. From the first day to the present, he has treated people with respect and done everything ever asked of him and more,” said Bill Cromling III, one of the owners of the Ross Group of companies, in presenting the award to Gorman.

The Vision Award is presented annually to an associate of the Ross companies who exemplifies a commitment to the companies’ values. They include: operating safely; respecting our associates; serving our customers well; complying with laws and regulations; protecting the environment; giving back to the community and using all resources wisely.

Gorman resides in Fairview Park with his wife, Amy and two sons. He is involved in his church, plays bagpipes with a local group and coaches his kid’s sports teams. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Science from The Ohio State University and, after completing his degree, was hired to work at RIS by Phillip T. Schaefer, for whom the award is named.

The Vision Award was created by the Ross companies to honor the memory of Phillip T. Schaefer, who was the Vice President of Operations for Ross Incineration Services, Inc. during a critical time in the history of the company.

Phil was active in a number of community organizations and was a living example of the Ross companies’ values in action. Phil was an active and tireless volunteer, athlete, environmentalist and sportsman. He demonstrated his commitment to his coworkers, to health and wellness, to the community and to the environment on a daily basis. Phil passed away in 2011 following a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer.
