Ross Environmental Services is proud to announce Travis Dodson as the recipient of its inaugural Safety Leader of the Year Award, a new recognition established in 2026 as part of its Safety Hall of Fame program to honor employees who exemplify outstanding leadership and commitment to workplace safety at the Ross companies.
The Safety Leader of the Year Award marks a significant milestone in the company’s continued evolution of its safety culture. The new award reflects modern safety best practices by celebrating proactive behaviors that prevent incidents before they occur. Developed following guidance from Occupational Safety and Health Administration as well as the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, the award shifts the focus from injury statistics to the preemptive daily actions that create a safer workplace.
The award recognizes associates who lead by example, identify and eliminate hazards, mentor fellow associates, promote safe work practices and inspire a culture where safety always comes before production. A total of 20 nominations were submitted for this year’s inaugural award, highlighting the dedication of employees across the organization to protecting one another.
Selected by the Ross Corporate Safety Team, Travis Dodson has been with Ross Incineration since 2021. Throughout his career, he has advanced through multiple operator positions and currently serves as a Control Room Operator. He also plays an active role on the Safety Committee and the Emergency Response Team, consistently demonstrating a commitment to improving workplace safety beyond his daily responsibilities.
“Safety isn’t measured simply by the absence of injuries, it’s built through leadership, accountability and the everyday actions our associates take to protect one another,” said Neil Gorman, Chief Executive Officer of the Ross Environmental Services. “Travis embodies those values. His commitment to identifying risks, mentoring others and leading by example makes him an outstanding choice as the first recipient of our Safety Leader of the Year Award.”
Reflecting on the recognition, Dodson emphasized that workplace safety is a shared responsibility. “The company gives us everything we need to be safe, we just have to use it,” said Dodson. “We want everyone to go home safe.”
As the inaugural recipient, Dodson establishes the standard for future Safety Leader of the Year honorees, reinforcing the Ross’ ongoing commitment to creating a workplace where every employee takes ownership of safety and returns home safely at the end of the day.
